Perodua continues to improve supply management - 61,624 units delivered in Q1
Perodua managed to deliver over 61,000 vehicles in Q1 2022 (6.4% increase)
Perodua has reported that they've successfully delivered 61,624 vehicles within the first quarter of 2022. This is quite a considerable increase when compared to the same period of 2021, which is 6.4% more (Perodua delivered 57,909 vehicles from January-March 2021).
It seems that they've somehow managed to work with its suppliers and dealers regarding the global component supply issues due to COVID-19, but the impacts and issues are still there very much there but Perodua is constantly working on improving these particular issues.
According to Perodua's President and CEO, Dato' Zainal Abidin, "Our focus is now to expedite the vehicles' delivery to our customers before the sales tax exemption deadline ends on 30 June 2022. That being said, Perodua also echoes MAA’s (Malaysia Automotive Association) request to further extend the sales tax exemption as factors such as the global semiconductor supply disruption and Covid-19 cases are still impacting the industry."
"While semiconductor chip supply and Covid-19 would still influence production, we expect that production and registration will continue to improve. We do not foresee other factors such as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine to have a major impact on Perodua’s production moving forward. Based on these factors, we are maintaining our 247,000 sales target for this year," added Dato' Zainal Abidin.
