Pagani confirms it is still working on all-electric hypercars

Pagani has confirmed to TopGear.com that it still sees a future in electric hypercars.

Dispelling rumours that the company has canned its development in EVs, Pagani said it was still very much engaged in finding the right solution for the future.

“We strongly believe that there is an opportunity in EV cars, with products that up to this date do not exist,’ a spokesperson told us.

“When these products bear the name ‘Pagani’, they must be true to our philosophy, they must be light, safe and emotional.” Pagani’s electric vehicle team is currently working with partners to find the right tech that’ll power the brand’s future products and ‘reach that very objective’.

"We will launch when the technology is ready," a spokesperson told TG, "and the Pagani EV will be unmistakably and quintessentially 'Pagani'."

Only late last year, boss Horacio Pagani told us that despite no customer ever expressing any interest in an electric or even hybrid hypercar, “we have been working on a project for a car with an alternative drive”.

The challenges back then – echoed again today – were the same. Weight. “This is what Pagani customers want,” Pagani said. “A lightweight, beautiful to look at car with many details.”

Before that, we’ll see the successor to the Huayra codenamed ‘C10’, which will bear a turbocharged Mercedes-AMG V12 at its core. “An engine that will power the C10 project and will comply with all emission requirements and regulations until 2026-2027,” Pagani said.
