New Yamaha MT-09 price revealed - RM54,998
There's a new 'Master of Torque' in town, and it's the 2021 Yamaha MT-09
Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HYLM) recently launched the 2021 Yamaha TMAX 560 for the Malaysian market and together with the launch, they also teased the arrival of the 2021 Yamaha MT-09 and the Tracer 9 GT. Today, they've announced the official price for the new Yamaha MT-09, and it's RM54,998 (excluding insurance, road tax, and registration).
Rebuilt from the ground up, the new Yamaha MT-09 packs a more powerful punch in terms of aggressive design as well as firepower. Kicking things off with a punchier yet lighter 889cc triple-cylinder engine, the new MT-09 produces 117hp at 10,000rpm and 93Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. Power is sent down to the rear wheel via a six-speed manual transmission.
All of that is housed within a new and lighter aluminium die-cast frame which totals up to 189kg (wet weight, including a fully-fuelled 14-litre fuel tank). This, in turn, also offers better straight-line stability as well agility when you're ripping through the corners because as most of may already know, lighter weight also improves overall handling.
The latest-gen MT-09 is also a very smart beast as it comes with a host of electronic riding aids such as a new six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) which was developed from the one used in the brand's top-of-the-line superbike, the Yamaha YZF-R1. The 2021 Yamaha MT-09 is kitted with Traction Control System (TCS), Slide Control System (SCS), and Front Wheel Lift Control System (LIF).
For those looking to get their very own 2021 Yamaha MT-09 with its redesigned all-LED lighting system and 3.5-inch TFT screen, it's available at all Yamaha big bike dealers across the nation starting today and priced at RM54,998 (excluding insurance, road tax, and registration).
