The new Volvo XC60 now comes ready with Google Services integration

Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has officially launched the updated Volvo XC60 for the local market and there are two different variants for you to choose from - the base Volvo XC60 B5 Momentum (upgraded to a 'mild hybrid' from the previous T5 variant) and the range-topping Volvo XC60 Recharge T8 Inscription Plus.

The 'Smarter XC60' term was coined thanks to the partnership between Volvo and Google, plus other added safety features, refreshed exterior, and of course, the latest technological integration courtesy of Google Services. In other words, you can simply "Hey Google" a number of onboard features with the new Volvo XC60.

Being the first of its kind to incorporate Google into its nine-inch centre infotainment system, the updated Volvo XC60 features a new Digital Services Package which also includes voice-controlled Google Assistant from Google Maps, music, calls, plus other in-car apps without taking your eyes off the road and hands off the steering wheel.

If sound quality is what you're after, the new Volvo XC60 is fitted with a set of 15 speakers from Bowers & Wilkins, while the B5 Momentum is most likely just as good with its 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

As for the exterior, a set of a new grille, front bumper and exterior colour are now available for the new XC60 range. If you opt for the Recharge T8 variant, it'll ride on a set of 19-inch six-multispoke black diamond-cut alloy wheels, while the B5 variant gets the 19-inch five-Y spoke black diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Power comes in the form of a 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin hybrid engine (turbocharged & supercharged) that produces 407hp and 640Nm of torque (87hp and 240Nm alone come from the battery/electric motor combo). The B5 mild-hybrid variant comes with 249hp and 350Nm of torque.

This allows it to hit 0-100km/h in just 5.3 seconds plus a fuel efficiency of only 2.2 litres/100km. Power is sent down to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission with Geartronic. Fully charged, the XC60 T8 can travel in full EV mode at around 45km.

Other notable features include Volvo's latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and the Volvo phone app which allows the user to perform tasks like remotely pre-climatise their parked car, checking car status, locking or unlocking the doors, plus more. All of this can be yours from RM292,266 to RM325,499 (OTR excluding insurance + sales tax exemption).
