Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) updated its local line with the announcement of two new models today. New in the line up now are the B 200 Progressive Line and GLA 200 Style. Here’s what in store with both.

2019 B 200 Progressive Line
We’ll kick things off with Merc’s compact family mover, the B-Class. MBM welcomes the all-new 2019 model (W247) locally, offering it in just one guise, that being the B 200 Progressive Line.

In this form, the B-Class gets dressed in the Progressive Line exterior which, according to Merc, combines both function and sportiness, the latter perhaps best exuded by the stylish 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels this family-mover rolls on.

On board, Merc has endowed the B 200 with all the usual plush treatments it’s known for. But unlike before, the new B 200 Progressive Line has borrowed some tech from it’s A-Class hatchback cousin, namely the instrument and infotainment display units.

With that, the B 200 Progressive Line now boasts Merc’s novel and interactive MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) voice-command suite. Just like in the A-Class, just say “Hey Mercedes…” to activate its abilities.

Whilst here, it’s worth noting that the B 200 Progressive Line features a large and very practical 455-litre standard boot space. This can be expanded further to 1,540 litres with the rear seat folded.

Mechanically, the B 200 Progressive Line harnesses a new 1.3-litre 4cyl turbo petrol mill and a 7-speed dual-clutch (DCT) auto box, the former boasting headline figures of 163bhp and 350Nm.

Critically, the B 200 Progressive Line is brimmed with several driving assistance systems that see it stand as one of the safest in both size and class. Key amongst these is Blind Spot Assist and Active Brake Assist.

Available now via authorised Mercedes-Benz dealerships, the new 2019 Mercedes-Benz B 200 Progressive Line is a fully imported (CBU) offering that commands RM239,888 excluding insurance.

GLA 200 Style
Next up comes a refreshed GLA-Class offering called the GLA 200 Style. This is essentially a refreshed version of the existing GLA-Class that’s based on the previous generation A-Class (W176) platform.

This new-for-2019 Style variant sees the base GLA 200 dressed in Merc’s Style Line exterior trims featuring additional inserts in high-gloss chrome on the radiator trim in matt iridium silver, chrome beltline strip and the load sill guard, as well as a snazzy new 18-inch 5-twin-spoke alloy wheels design.

On board, the GLA 200 Style welcomes a redesigned seat upholstery motif. Made of both ARTICO artificial leather and Macapá fabric, it features an innovative pattern inspired by tyre tracks which lends the interior a special off-road touch.

Whilst on the cabin still, it’s worth noting that the GLA 200 Style is now brimmed with an updated 8-inch Comand infotainment interface system boasting both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

As for driver assists, the GLA 200 Style now gets Attention Assist, Active Brake Pre-Safe system, Active parking Assist, as well as LED High Performance headlamps added into its mix now.

Mechanically there aren’t any changes, so the GLA 200 Style harnesses the same 1.6-litre 4cyl turbo petrol mill and 7-speed DCT we’re all familiar with, the former boasting 156bhp and 250Nm of twist.

Available now at authorised Mercedes-Benz dealerships nationwide, the Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 Style retails for RM223,800 sans insurance, or from as low as RM3,288 a month via the Mercedes-Benz agility financing scheme.
