The Audi A6 is now available in Malaysia, the eighth-generation large sedan priced at RM589,900. Yup, there’s only a single variant – the Audi A6 A6 3.0 TFSI quattro S tronic which packs 340hp and 500Nm of torque from its turbocharged V6 engine. It’s a bit special than you may think though since it also features a mild hybrid tech which allows the A6 to coast between 55kph and 160kph. Up to 12 kW of energy is harvested during deceleration; and the stop-go function works up to 22kph where the car restarts automatically once it detects the vehicle in front move forward.

The mild hybrid is claimed to improve fuel efficiency by up to 0.7 litres/100km, giving an average petrol consumption figure of 7.2L/100km. Standstill to 100kph takes 5.1 seconds with a v-max of 250kph. Gearbox is a 7-speed S tronic, and as the quattro name suggests, powers all four wheels.

The A6 is 4,939mm long, i.e. 7mm longer than its predecessor. The width has been increased by 12mm to 1,886mm while the height at 1,457mm is now 2mm more than on the outgoing model. Naturally the result is a more spacious cabin than the previous A6, exaggerated with the panoramic glass roof. Advanced aerodynamics has made it a quieter ride too even at high speeds.

Audi’s MMI is an important function for the driver, where up to seven individuals can store their preferred profiles and set up to 400 parameters. It’s rather user friendly too since some functions like drag-and-drop can be used to configure the MMI screen, not unlike a smartphone. The real difference is that you get a great deal more of screen real estate – 10.1 inch.

MMI also includes acoustic and haptic feedback for a more intuitive operation. In addition, the head-up display projects important information onto the windshield. MMI navigation plus also includes the Audi virtual cockpit with a 12.3-inch display.

Standard in the fully-imported Audi A6 A6 3.0 TFSI quattro S tronic is MMI Navigation Plus which among others give a more powerful navigation system that has a self-learning function based on driven routes.

The new A6 is more agile now thanks to all-wheel steering that turns the rear wheels by up to 5 degrees. This has given the car a more compact turning circle of 11.1 metres, or 1 metre less than before.

All good stuffs here. But the thing with Audi is, best to see the car yourself. Specifically, the light show it comes with.
