It seems the new Malaysian guardians of Aprilia, Didi Resources Sdn Bhd, are making good on their promise at reviving the famed Italian motorcycle brand locally as it hosts its first official new model launch this week ahead of Chinese New Year.

Say Ciao! and welcome the new and heavily upgraded Aprilia Shiver 900 naked bike. Replacing the outgoing Shiver 750 model, the new Shiver packs a full swing of new and improved features all round, most notable being its new powertrain.

There’s a newly developed liquid-cooled 896cc 90-degree V-twin at the heart of things, which delivers 95.2hp and 90Nm of twist to the rear wheel via a six-speed box and typical chain final drive setup.

Not only bigger, the powertrain has been made smarter too with as it comes paired with a new Ride-by-Wire (RbW) electronic throttle suit that grants three selectable ride modes – Sport, Touring and Rain.

Complementing that bit is the adoption of an advanced new traction control system, as well as a new dual-channel ABS suite developed by Continental. Elsewhere, there’s also a new digital TFT dash display, as well as the presence of the Aprilia MIA system that grants smartphone connectivity for navigation.

Promising to be a different kind of sport naked, the Shiver 900 backs that claim up with its light dry weight of 199kg. There’s also notable hardware such a pair of 41mm adjustable front forks and dual 320mm front disc brakes promising greater control.

In all, it makes the new Aprilia Shiver 900 ideal for upstarts seeking a stylish middleweight naked bike with a sporty twist. Fully imported (CBU) from Italy, the new Shiver 900 commands a base retail price of RM72,000 as it hit local dealer floors.

While the Shiver 900’s wilder Dorsoduro 900 supermoto twin hasn’t landed yet, Didi Resources Sdn Bhd have indeed been busy in the last few months. The firm have been quietly ramping up its dealership network in the peninsular.

The firm remains committed towards fully reviving the Aprilia marque locally, with plans to introduce more models as well as expanding its dealer network and running various programs to entice current and new owners alike throughout the year.
