It has taken more than a year, and finally the first shipment of made-in-Kedah Peugeot has left port and on its way to Philippines. This batch of Peugeot 3008 1.6L Active and winner of European Car of the Year 2017 should arrive at its destination by the end of the month.

“The Peugeot 3008 with the Peugeot 5008 1.6 THP are targeted to be available in the Philippines with more than 4,000 units by 2023. The Philippines is the first ASEAN country where our cars manufactured at NAM is being exported to under the AFTA,” said Laurence Noel, Head of ASEAN & CEO of Naza Automotive Manufacturing, Groupe PSA.

She added that more Peugeot cars assembled in Malaysia will begin to be exported to other ASEAN countries soon.

The export programme started when Groupe PSA inked an agreement with Naza Corporation Holdings early last year which assigns Gurun, Kedah, as the first manufacturing hub for Groupe PSA in the region. With this agreement in effect, Groupe PSA and Naza will jointly produce Groupe PSA branded cars for Malaysia and other ASEAN markets.
