The current conventional business understanding is that SUVs will make your company money. Well, that’s what Naza Euro Motors is banking on with the launch of the DS7 Crossback SUV, the stylish premium 5-seater SUV priced at RM199,888, and the first DS model introduced in the country since ‘DS’ became a dedicated brand. If you think the DS7 Crossback looks familiar it’s because you first saw it previewed during the last Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show late last year.
165bhp and 240Nm comes off the 1.6-litre THP engine, with a 6-speed automatic managing the power transfer to the front two axles. We’re not provided with a 0-100kph number but top speed is a claimed 220kph.
But there is no denying the fact that the DS brand is more about premium styling and design. So how does the DS7 Crossback talk to you? The light signature is striking, with the DS Active LED Vision system capable to adapt in width and range to the road conditions and vehicle speed using five lighting modes –Town Beam, Country Beam, Motorway Beam, Adverse Weather and High Beam. The same unit emits a purple light when the vehicle is unlocked too. Having said that, that gloss black front grille is equally attention grabbing.
Inside, you’ll notice the abundance use of Basalt Black grained alcantara which is one of the features from the Performance Line trim. Aluminium pedals, leather-wrapped steering and chrome-finished toggle switches are also standard. The animated watch is a feature developed in partnership with B.R.M Chronographs.
The DS7 Crossback comes with an 8-inch central touchscreen and another 12.3-inch screen – the former to manage multimedia interface while the latter handles the digital instrument cluster. DS Connect gives compatibility with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mirrorlink, together with wireless charging for compatible smartphones.
The safety suite comprises Electronic Safety Programme, Emergency Brake Assist, Anti Skid Regulation, Dynamic Stability Control, six airbags, and Driver Attention Warning. Euro NCAP has certified the DS7 Crossback with a five-star rating.
Purchase of the DS7 Crossback comes with a 5-year/120,000km warranty, 24-hour Roadside Assistance for five years, and exclusive access to SkyLounge by Naza at Subang Skypark. It also includes the newly introduced DS Only You programme that offers:
