National bike brand Modenas announced a more than 10 per cent reduction in prices for two of its core models, those being the sporty Pulsar RS200 street bike and Dominar D400 entry-level ‘sport tourer’.

Starting today, 8th March 2020, the base price of the RS200 reduced by 12 per cent from RM11,350 to RM9,990 – a reduction of RM1,360. The Dominar D400, on the other hand, is now priced from RM13,788 onwards, marking a RM1,700 or 11 per cent cut from RM15,488 prior.

According to Modenas’s CEO Roslan Roskan, the price cut was made possible thanks to improvements made to the firm’s production process. “Modenas is passing this cost savings to all two-wheel enthusiasts to make both these popular models much more affordable in Malaysia,” he adds.

Apart from the price reduction, Modenas plans on boosting its sales and reach through the expansion of both its product portfolio and dealership network. On that note, the firm has confirmed that it has five to eight new models (bikes and variants) in the pipeline, all destined to debut locally within this year.

Notably, a number of these upcoming new products will be localised versions of several sub-700cc models from Kawasaki. This is undoubtedly the fruit from the increased investments into Modenas by the Japanese brand’s parent company Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI).

In other words, this is one bike brand to look out for in the coming months…
