Fresh off the brand’s recent 60th anniversary bash, Mini’s Malaysian arm sees its line up refreshed this week with arrival of the face-lifted Mini Convertible (F57).

The model was announced earlier today and is offered exclusively in Cooper S form, and in limited numbers – more on this in a bit.

Aptly, this drop-top iteration underpins the refreshed BMW-developed hot hatch that was launched last year, sporting plenty of improved new on board features and bits all around – fancy LED headlights Union and Jack-shaped LED taillights included.

Much of the revamped on board features are centred around a new built-in 4G SIM tech, which delivers enhanced connectivity capabilities and personalised services aimed at maximising safety and convenience.

Sweetening the affair here is new 6.5-inch touchscreen display unit brimmed with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto too – enhanced smartphone integration via the Mini Connected app being another key improvement here as well.

Visually, the cabin’s been refreshed too as it’s now lined with illuminated Piano Black trims, Leather Chester upholstery, even brandishing a new diamond-stitched Malt Brown leather seats.

On to the oily bits and, predictably, the Mini Convertible is driven by a 2.0-litre 4cyl turbo petrol mill that delivers 192bhp and 280Nm. Drive goes to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch (DCT) sports automatic box.

The result sees the drop-top able to dispatch 0-100kph in 7.1 secs and a 230kph V-Max whilst also sipping just 5.7 litres/100km.

This being a drop top, the Mini Convertible’s party trick of course lies in its electronically operated soft-top roof, which takes just 18 seconds to stowaway even on the move at up to 30kph.
