Maserati reveals the V6-engined GranTurismo
This is a V6 Maserati. Specifically, it’s the new Maserati GranTurismo, returning the long-running nameplate back into the light. And predictably, it’s quite gorgeous.
Ahead of the car’s official reveal, Maserati has revealed the ‘Modena’ version (and there'll be a 'Trofeo' too), packing the company’s brand-new twin-turbo ‘Nettuno’ V6 powerplant. That’s the same engine Maserati deploys in the MC20 supercar.
Maser hasn’t yet disclosed how much power each car will offer, but in the MC20 it reaches a heady total of 621bhp. Should be enough for the new GT, one suspects.
There’s a lot riding on this new car of course, Maserati itself saying it’s “the brand’s true icon” that can trace its roots back 75 years to the A6 1500.
In the here and now, and seeing as it's 2022, there’s a fully-electric version of the new GranTurismo on the horizon too, taking the name ‘Folgore’ (lightning). Apt, considering Maser claims some 1,200bhp from the Folgore’s drivetrain, and a 0-60mph time of just 2.6 seconds.
Should do a good job of bringing the car back into the limelight. Which is handy, because predictably, it’s quite gorgeous.
