Look at this Dodge Challenger Mopar's hood

There’s no end to Dodge’s line of special edition Challengers, it seems, though usually the modifications extend to throwing yet more power at its rear wheels and informing local tyre fitters they should increase their stocks.

This one’s a little different, what with its paltry 485bhp. Will it even move without a healthy tailwind?

We jest, of course. There’s still a big old noisy V8 up front driving just the two wheels behind, and a six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard. This is old-school joy at its purest.

Designed to mark ten years of Mopar builds – Mopar being the aftermarket accessories division of the Fiat Chrysler group – just 100 Challengers will get the treatment. They’ll be split between black and white cars (sorry, Pitch Black or White Knuckle cars), all of them receiving the monstrous-looking Shaker Hood, a new rear spoiler and those wavy blue stripes.

The tweaks aren’t just visual, either. There’s stronger suspension struts and punchier Brembo brakes to ensure it’s sharper to drive while the interior gains Mopar badges aplenty. Oh, and each car comes with a ‘birth certificate’ within its special owner’s kit. Aww.

The Dodge Challenger Mopar ’19 costs $45,835, which, as always with these things, makes us pine for a life in America. That’s because it currently converts to a smidge over £37,000 (or approx. RM192,759), which is what you’ll pay for a 2.0-litre diesel Audi A4 with a light sprinkling of spec. And no Shaker Hood…
