Lexus Malaysia opens order books for 2020 LC500

Remember the updated Lexus LC500 we wrote about before? If you had your eyes on it with one hand on the cheque book, we’re happy to report that Lexus Malaysia is now accepting orders for the “masterfully reengineered” coupe, and it’ll cost you a grand total of RM1,250,000 on-the-road without insurance. 

For the money, you get 10kg less car, which is part of Lexus’s efforts to improve the LC500‘s comfort, safety and handling. Much of this weight was removed from the 21-inch wheels in the rear and the front lower arms. The rear performance dampers and Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) are also new, while the electric steering system has been substantially rejigged too. 

You also finally get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, which is a huge plus point - that’ll probably get noticed more by the ‘average RM1.25m coupe buyer’ than all the other engineering bits mentioned earlier. 

The rest of the car is virtually unchanged, not that it’s a bad thing when you have a five-litre 470hp/540Nm V8 under the swooping hood good for a 4.4-second century sprint. Now that’s a proper engine. We’ll leave it to you to decide if it’s worth the price of a semi-D in the Klang Valley...
