Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 debuts publicly at Shanghai Auto Show

By sep, 21 April 2021

The 2021 Shanghai Auto Show saw three premieres from Automobili Lamborghini in the form of the Essenza SCV12 (first public debut), Huracán STO (China debut), and the Huracán Fluo Capsule collection (first showcase in Asia Pacific). The unveiling was also complemented with the Lamborghini Urus to round up the brand's portfolio, particularly in the country.

Starting with the Essenza SCV12 hyper car, this particular model's production number is only limited to 40 units ever, this track-only beast comes with the brand's latest and most powerful V12 naturally aspirated engine. That's 830hp plus power boost thanks to the RAM effect engaged at high speeds.

This rear-wheel-drive monster keeps everything in check thanks to a few additions likes its new X-trac sequential six-speed gearbox, complex aerodynamics package, a power-to-weight ratio of 1.66hp/kg, new-generation carbon fiber monocoque chassis, plus space-age driving electronic aids.

We're not sure if you can get your hands on one, but if you do, you can expect to pay somewhere between £1.8million and £2.7million each - roughly RM9.91million and RM14.87million. The price customers who are willing to cough up the cash are paired with an exclusive club membership which includes specialised training programmes and premium track days at some of the world's most prestigious circuits. Fancy, this is.

Its first public appearance was further complemented with the arrival of the Lamborghini Huracán STO, which happens to be its official debut in China. It's basically a race car that has been made street-legal with a lot of inspirations taken directly from two of the brand's very successful race machines, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO and GT3 EVO.

Powered by a naturally aspirated V10 engine, the Huracán STO punches out a hefty 640hp and 565Nm of torque, which translates to a 0-100km/h run completed in just three seconds flat. 0-200km/h is done in just nine seconds, followed by a top speed of 310km/h.

Lamborghini was able to achieve this thanks to the Huracán STO's superior aerodynamics, lightweight carbon fibre body panels, updated transmission with better response and faster rapid shifts, plus many more. Stopping from those speeds aren't a problem either as it comes with the F1-derived Brembo CCM-R brake package. With the Ad Personam program, customers can basically design their own STO in any and every colour imaginable.

If that doesn't float your boat, perhaps the Huracán Fluo Capsule collection might entice you with its bright and bold colour options for the V10 monster. There's the matte Verde Shock (green) colour, which obviously does wonders for the car's edgy lines and shapes, but basically, there are a lot more options available via the Ad Personam program if you're planning to spice things up.
