Don't worry. The 11-seater CBU variant is still available

Kia Malaysia Sdn Bhd has officially rolled out the locally assembled 7- and 8-seater versions of the Kia Carnival which will be assembled at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah.

The Carnival is the first Kia model to be assembled locally under the joint venture between Kia Corporation and Bermaz Auto Berhad (BAuto).

Yet to be launched officially, the locally assembled Kia Carnival 7-seater and 8-seater variants will be sold at prices mentioned below: 

• Kia Carnival 2.2D 8-Seater - RM231,228
• Kia Carnival 2.2D 8-Seater High - RM247,228
• Kia Carnival 2.2D 7-seater High - RM261,228

Powering the locally assembled Carnival is the same powertrain package as the existing 11-seater,  comprising a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine producing 199 hp and 440 Nm of torque, and an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Speaking of the 11-seater variant, those who want it can still have their wishes fulfilled as the model will be sold alongside the locally assembled variants, at an unchanged price of RM196,341 on the road without insurance, including SST.

In case you're wondering why the CKD variants are more expensive, they are actually better equipped, and offer more luxury features than the 11-seater, such as the Premium Relaxion seats in the second row that can be fully reclined, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, as well as ambient lighting.

Also available are heated and ventilated seats in front and at the rear, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, one-touch smart power sliding doors and smart powered tailgate.

Meanwhile, the list of safety and driver assistance features is also better than the existing 11-seater variant, comprising:

• Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning (FCA) 
• Smart Cruise Control (SCC) 
• Lane Following Assist (LFA) 
• Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) 
• Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) 
• High Beam Assist (HBA) 
• Safe Exit Assist (SEA)
