BMW Malaysia has started the export programme for the recently unveiled MINI Countryman to Thailand, consisting of the MINI Cooper S Countryman and MINI Cooper S Countryman Hightrim variants. The units are assembled at the Inokom Corporation plant in Kulim which is a partnership between Sime Darby Berhad and BMW Group Malaysia. It is one of the 30 production sites for BMW in 14 countries around the world

The export programme by BMW Group Malaysia to other countries in the region is an example of the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) which promotes the intra-ASEAN trade and ensures the realisation of free flow goods within member countries.

Commenting on the start of the new MINI Countryman’s export, Harald Hoelzl, MD and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia said, “We have been developing our local assembly capabilities here together with our local partner Sime Darby Berhad and our network of local suppliers with the ambition to support the region and today, we have taken an important step forward.”
