Jason Dupasquier's #50 number to be retired from Moto3

By sep, 15 June 2021

Following the tragedy of Jason Dupasquier's death during the Italian GP Moto3 race in Mugello on 30 May 2021, a special ceremony will take place this Friday to pay tribute to the fallen 19-year-old Swiss rider. This weekend's German GP at the Sachsenring circuit in Germany will see Dupasquier's #50 racing number retire from use in the 250cc Moto3 category.

Dupasquier's racing number retirement follows the tradition of other fallen riders who have lost their lives in the past, including the likes of Nicky Hayden (2017), Luis Salom (2016), Marco Simoncelli (2011), Shoya Tomizawa (2010), Daijiro Kato (2003).

Jason Dupasquier unfortunately was struck by Ayumu Sasaki's bike (Red Bull KTM Tech3) during Saturday's qualifying practice. He was immediately given medical attention and flown to the nearest medical facility, but unfortunately succumbed to his wounds the next day, right before the Moto2 race started. Ride in peace, Jason.
