Japan’s Ebisu Circuit suffers heavy damage after huge earthquake

By sep, 17 February 2021

Japan was rocked with a massive 7.3-magnitude earthquake last weekend which caused serious damages and injured over 100 people across the nation. No casualties have been reported, but the famous drifting track, Ebisu Circuit, sustained heavy damages. In other words, it’s properly wrecked.

Located close to four hours outside of Tokyo, the iconic Ebisu Circuit is highly regarded by many drifting enthusiasts as one of the best places to kick it sideways. The massive earthquake triggered a huge landslide, which led to major damages to the track as well as its facilities.

A number of race cars which were kept in the paddocks were also affected by the landslide, but not nearly as bad as the track itself when you look through the aerial shots posted by the local news teams. It’s definitely not a pretty picture to look at, but knowing how resilient the Japanese can be, we won’t be surprised if the famous Ebisu Circuit is fixed up and running drift events sooner that we all think.

It won’t be an easy task considering the fact that an entire section of the nearby mountain collapsed right in the middle of the circuit along with several facilities available on it. Several sources have indicated that a GoFundMe is currently being setup by diehard fans of the Ebisu Circuit to help ease the burden of its overall recovery process.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Japan and its people during these tough times.
