Name of car plus seemingly random set of letters – that’s a good way to find out if a car has something extra. Especially if the car in question is a Porsche.
Especially if those letters are GTS.
Okay, so it is preceded by ‘Panamera’ but that only means that you can grow up yet still have some fun. In the case of the Panamera GTS (which means Gran Turismo Sport), make it 460hp worth of fun with oh-you’re-welcome 620Nm of torque from Porsche. That’s 20hp and 100Nm more than the Panamera GTS it replaces. It’s all-wheel driven, out from an 8-speed PDK gearbox and Porsche Traction Management system. The stopwatch shows 4.1 seconds to go from standstill to 100kph, with the standard Sport Chrono.
GTS tends to make better noise because that’s what they do – this one coming from a 4-litre bi-turbo V8. Also helping is the standard sports exhaust system.
Outside, there’s a Sport Design package that brings in a new black front end, black trim at the lower part of the car’s rear, on top of a number of dark coloured elements throughout the outside. Even the 20-inch alloys are in black.
The cabin comes with a (heated) alcantara-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, head-up display, and plenty of other use of black alcantara together with anodised aluminium. Buyers can go with the optional Interior GTS Package with various design elements such as rev counter, designer seams, and GTS logos in contrasting shades of carmine red or crayon.
The Panamera GTS also goes for the Sport Turismo version too. And in fact, there’s even some performance difference because top speed for the Panamera GTS is 292kph while the Panamera GTS Sport Turismo is 289kph. 0-100kph acceleration is still the same, though. Also, claimed fuel consumption for the former is 10.3L/100km while the Sport Turismo is 10.6L/100km.
