It pays to be the lucky owner of Honda Malaysia's one millionth car

Honda Malaysia's '1 Million Dreams' campaign finally came to an end yesterday after the remaining three winners received their cars from campaign partners Cuckoo, Shopee and Watsons. This conclusion naturally meant that the Japanese carmaker has indeed shipped out its millionth vehicle in the country. And the lucky Malaysian to get his hands on that landmark car is Ahmad Irwan Mat Tuselim (inset, centre), who was invited to the prize giving ceremony after purchasing a Honda Civic that happened to be car number 1,000,000.

So, what do you get for helping an automotive company reach such a momentous milestone?

For starters, Ahmad Irwan does not need to pay a single cent in maintenance for the first five years of ownership. Honda Malaysia has rewarded him with five years of free scheduled service and labour, which is worth anywhere from RM1,800 to RM3,500, depending on the model (the 1.8-litre variant is surprisingly the pricier of the Civic's two powertrains). He also receives a RM1,000 petrol card for buying the right brand of car at the right time. And if that wasn't plenty already, Cuckoo, Shopee and Watsons chipped in with cash vouchers and free products as well. In total, that's a token of appreciation worth more than RM8,000 right there.

Why aren't we as lucky when buying a new car?
