In-Depth: 2019 Mazda3 specs and price
The fourth generation Mazda3 officially debuted in the local market this week and, as previously reported, will initially be offered in fully imported (CBU) guises with two body styles and two engine options abound.
From the launch event held at 1Utama earlier today, we’ve gotten a better grasp of the three trimlines that go on sale first. As reported earlier, the Skyactiv-X-powered variants will NOT make landfall just yet.
Nevertheless, the news isn’t all bad and here’s what’s in store.

1. Mazda3 1.5 (Hatch & Sedan) – RM139,770
Firstly, the entry-level trimline gets the smaller 1.5-litre Skyactiv-G 4cyl petrol mill with 118hp and 150Nm. Paired with Mazda’s 6-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic box, said outputs go on to power the front wheels.
The baseline model gets LED headlights with bulb-type daytime running lights (DRLs), LED taillights, and 16-inch alloy wheels as distinguishing exterior features.
Predictably, the baseline variants gets brimmed with fabric seats and manual air-conditioning controls. You will find that just the steering wheel gets treated with leather in this trimline.
Standard across the board though is an 8.8-inch infotainment screen sporting both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker hi-fi system, a 7-inch TFT multi-info display (MID), as well as a heads-up display (HUD).
On the advanced tech front, the baseline models will benefit with Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) and i-Stop idling stop-start systems and standard.
As for safety, the bill in these entry level trims aren’t bad as it includes 7 airbags, ABS, stability (DSC) and traction control (TCS), as well as Hill-Launch Assist (HLA) and ISOFIX childseat anchors – all standard across the board too.
2. Mazda 3 2.0 High (Sedan) – RM150,059
The revised 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G 4cyl petrol mill powers the mid-spec models and above. It is good for 162hp and 213Nm. For this trimline, it will be offered exclusively in sedan form.
Distinguishing exterior features include full-LED headlamps with LED DRLs, larger 18-inch alloys, as well as the addition of a sunroof.
On board, the cabin’s features are bolstered with a driver-side 10-way power-adjustable seats, fancy frameless rear-view mirror, dual-zone automatic air-conditioning, keyless entry with walk-away auto locking, as well as plush leather seats and steering-mounted paddle-shifters.
3. Mazda3 2.0 High Plus (Hatch & Sedan) – RM160,059
This range-topping trimline caps things off, and will be available in both hatchback (or ‘liftback’ as Mazda calls it) and sedan forms. Naturally, the Mazda3 in this trimline comes brimmed with all the bell and whistles, hence its premium pricing.
In this trimline, the Mazda 3 benefits further with Mazda’s i-Activesense package in full. The package adds a radar-guided adaptive cruise control, adaptive headlights and high-beam control, blind-spot monitor (BSM) and rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), as well as lane departure warning (LDWS), lane-keep assist system (LAS) and Driver Attention Alert (DAA).
