Husqvarna E-Pilen Concept revealed - swappable batteries included?

By sep, 27 April 2021

Husqvarna Motorcycles finally unveiled its first ever electric mobility concept, Husqvarna E-Pilen. Don't let the name fool you, it looks as gorgeous as its ICE-powered siblings, the Vitpilen and Svartpilen, and will definitely cater to a broader range of enthusiasts of the future once they're able to turn it into a full production model.

The E-Pilen Concept is a part of the brand's vision (as well as the parent company, KTM) to carry over their two-wheel values into the realm of E-mobility. With a power output of 8kW (equivalent to 125cc bikes with around 10hp) and a range of 100km per charge, day-to-day travels can be easily conquered with style thanks to its design features.

To make this prospect even more exciting, Husqvarna is also open to any opportunities to expand the E-Pilen Concept's capabilities in not just fixed batteries, bit also any potential swappable options. If this works, one can easily double the distance just by carry an extra battery or make use of any facilities that might be proposed once we go full electric in the future.

As we speak, KTM is already committing to this swappable battery solution with the likes of Honda, Yamaha, and Piaggio starting this year. According to the press kit, "The E-mobility range will retain and continue the riding pleasure and dynamics refined through the long history and experience of the brand. In support of the E-mobility initiative, Husqvarna Motorcycles will strategically expand its dealer presence in urban and metropolitan areas."
