Honda Malaysia today announced that the company has recorded more than 80,200 units of total sales in 2022 and achieved its sales target of 80,000 units.

The Company also saw an increase of 51% compared to the total sales of 2021. The remarkable sales achievement in 2022 has enabled Honda Malaysia to retain its position as the No.1 car brand in non-national Passenger Vehicle Segment for nine consecutive years since 2014.

From the overall sales, March recorded the highest sales with more than 10,500 units sold. Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura said, "2022 was a challenging year with global chip shortage and flood disasters that have affected our car production. With Challenging Spirit, Honda Malaysia shifted into higher gears in 2022 and exceeded our sales target with the strong support from all the stakeholders."

"We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our customers and the dealers for their unwavering support towards the Honda brand, as well as the Malaysian Government for the extension of sales tax exemption. Honda Malaysia values our customers, and we will continue to strive to enhance customer satisfaction."

"We are working closely with the suppliers and dealers to ensure timely delivery for customers, especially those who booked their cars during the sales tax exemption period."

The 2022 sales performance was attributable to the launch of the Civic in January. To further create excitement in the market, Honda Malaysia launched the HR-V in July, which raised the bar in the Compact SUV segment and is one of the top three contributors to Honda Malaysia's overall sales.

The best-selling Honda car in 2022 was the most sought-after model in B-segment, the City, which contributed 36% to the Company's overall sales. The City Hatchback and HR-V were among the top three best-performing models at 20% and 14% of the total sales.

The Company is optimistic about the automotive sector in 2023, and that it is going to be another exciting year with healthy competition in the industry.
