Honda Jazz Mugen and BR-V SE announced

By thoriq, 21 February 2019

Honda Malaysia just announced the release of two special new offerings into its local line up today. They are of course the Honda Jazz Mugen hatchback and the BR-V Special Edition (SE) 7-seater compact MPV.

Aptly, both the hatch and compact MPV sport several new goodies that make them just a little bit more special than their respective base variants. Adding to that is their limited availability to just 300 units each. Here’s what’s what in each special...

Honda BR-V Special Edition

Starting with arguably the most practical of the two, the BR-V Special Edition (SE) gets spruced up with a new tailgate spoiler, running board and side step garnish, all of which were meant to give the BR-V a sleeker and sportier outlook.

Besides that, there’s also a new 6.8-inch infotainment screen with smartphone connectivity primed aboard. Beyond this, and the special new paint scheme options present (more on this in a bit), little else has changed with this 7-seater offering.

By the way, the BR-V SE can be had in either ‘Passion Red Pearl’ or ‘White Orchid Pearl’ paint scheme options, the former marking the BR-V as the second Honda Malaysia offering to adopt this special scarlet-hue too.

As mentioned, just 300 units will be made available and priced at RM90,700 in red, or RM91,000 in white (OTR excluding insurance).

Honda Jazz Mugen

Aptly, this special variant of the Jazz gets endowed with a sportier aerokit designed by Mugen to start with. The package consists of a much more aggressive-looking ‘Front Aero Bumper’, accompanied by LED front fog lights, sportier-looking front grille as well as a tailgate garnish.

Also in this package are a pair of matching side skirts, rear diffuser plus rear spoiler. As you can see, the end result is a new and much sportier stance for the popular and practical hatchback offering. According to Honda Malaysia, much of these new bits were driven by the many feedbacks it received from owners and customers.

Again, there aren’t any changes elsewhere, meaning no changes to the 1.5-litre powertrain package as seen in its lesser siblings too. Like the BR-V SE, Honda Malaysia will make just 300 units the Honda Mugen Jazz, which can be had in either ‘Modern Steel Metallic’ or ‘White Orchid Pearl’ colour choices.

This limited run special commands RM88,600 in white, or RM88,720 in metallic hue (OTR excluding insurance). Bookings for both the Jazz Mugen and BR-V SE are now opened at selected Honda authorised dealers while stocks lasts.
