Hi Proton Iriz, you're looking good

Proton Iriz 2019

Proton has released official pictures of the Iriz hatchback so you can stop guessing how it looks like. It sure looks good from where I’m standing, with significant physical changes at every corner. It’s definitely sporty, with new slim headlights that integrate with a heavily stylised grille garnish.

Speaking of the front grille, the company says that it incorporates the ‘Infinite Weave’ pattern as seen on the X70 although it doesn’t look quite as prominent here. Also new is a front bumper with a reshaped lower radiator grille and LED daytime running lights.

The most noticeable change is arguably at the rear where you’ll find ‘Proton’ spelled out (like in the X70) instead of a logo badge in the previous Iriz. The dark tailgate garnish is a nice touch, making the car look wider, enhanced by a new rear bumper. The rear lights and spoiler? Like and like.

The press announcement indicates that the Iriz nameplate is with a new typeface but official pictures barely shows it. Ah, and the rotor design for the alloy is new too.

Completing the facelift is an interior that boasts a colour touchscreen that was developed by Proton and ECARX. The new unit comes with connectivity and voice command functions, although it’s not indicated whether it uses the X70’s GKUI system.

Why the patchy amount of information? Will have to wait for the official launch of course. And that will be in Q1, so we hear.
