Subaru Corporation recently unveiled the all-new Subaru Crosstrek, or as it is known here in Malaysia - the XV.

While the vehicle has been called “Crosstrek” or “Subaru XV” depending on the market all this while, the “Crosstrek” name will be the only one used globally beginning with this third generation model.

Powering the new Subaru Crosstek is a 2.0 L e-Boxer hybrid powertrain which means that there is an electric motor on top of the 2.0-litre engine and the Lineartronic CVT gearbox.

Other mechanical enhancements include the addition of an electric brake booster which improves pre-collision braking response as well as the all-speed adaptive cruise control.

Also new is the dual-pinion electric power steering. This model also keeps the variable-gear ratio design of previous models, which changes the gear ratio in response to steering operations.

Inside, the new Crosstrek comes with a new instrument panel, a new centre-console, new door handles, as well as new seats that offer better pelvic support. The 11.6-inch central information display is retained from previous models, but with enhanced smartphone-integrated functionality.

In addition to being equipped with the latest generation EyeSight technology, the new Crosstrek is the first Japanese-market Subaru model to feature a wide-angle mono camera, thus enhancing safety performance.

Slated to be introduced in the Japanese market in 2023 before being introduced to other markets around the world, the new Crosstek comes with a redesigned front end, featuring sharper front grille bars and a pair of redesigned LED headlights.

Fitted with 18-inch aluminum wheels, the new Subaru Crosstek comes with a total of nine exterior colors including the new colors Offshore Blue Metallic and Oasis Blue.
