BMW Motorrad Malaysia sees its line up updated and expanded as it launches four new models this week. Meet the new C400 X and C400 GT scooter duo, as well as the upgraded new R1250 RT tourer and new F750 GS middleweight dual-sport.

Here’s what you ought to know about each as they hit authorised showroom and dealer floors starting this month.

BMW R1250 RT
ICYMI, BMW Motorrad have revised and upgraded its entire R1200 line up, which has evolved into the R1250 series for 2019. Of the four new models from this line, it’s the R1250 RT tourer that was introduced locally first this week.

Firstly, the R1250 series benefits with a heavily upgraded iteration of the German marque’s signature boxer twin-cylinder heart. Besides a bump in displacement from 1,170cc to 1,254cc, the mill also benefits with a new BMW ShiftCam Technology variable cam profile system too.

This has resulted in a mill that's now significantly optimised with greater refinement and running smoothness, especially within the lower engine speed range. The new engine also offers improved emission and fuel consumption levels as well as a particularly satisfying sound, not forgetting improved outputs of 136hp and 143Nm.

Elsewhere, this purpose-built touring machine benefits will al the usual bells and whistles that BMW Motorrad’s boxer-powered bikes are known for. Included in the list are things such as Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Antilock Braking System (ABS) Pro and Hill Start Control, as well as a shaft final drive amongst many.

New in the 2019 model year R1250 RT though are things like its ‘next generation’ Dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA). New too is the Riding Modes Pro where additional riding modes of Dynamic, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Hill Start Control Pro and Dynamic Brake Assistant (DBC) are enabled.

Besides the choice of three paint options, the new 2019 BMW R1250 RT also offers four individualisation packages to choose from too. As for price, this tourer commands a base sticker price of RM139,500 onwards. Included in the price are both a 3-year warranty and 3-year roadside assistance packages.

BMW F750 GS
Slotted below the F850 GS, the new F750 GS offering is designed for all riders who prefer the thrills and design of a travel enduro combined with a low seat height, copious power availability, and powerful all-round qualities.

Much like the F850 GS above it, the F750 GS harnesses a re-engineered iteration of BMW Motorrad’s signature parallel-twin with a 270-/450-degree firing interval. Displacing 853cc, this mill in F750 GS guise delivers up to 77hp and 83Nm to drive the rear wheel via both a six-speed box and chain final drive combo.

Speaking of its driveline, the F750 GS features a self-amplifying, anti-hopping clutch that provides a discernible force reduction in operating the clutch lever. Riding modes available in the BMW F 750 GS include ‘Road’ and ‘Rain’ modes that address individual rider requirements.

Other notable features present on board include Automatic Stability Control (ASC) or Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Automatic Braking System (ABS). On top of that, there’s a neat new a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen instrument panel that also boasts improved new connectivity function.

Also available in three colour choices, the BMW F750 GS middleweight dual-sport commands a base sticker price of RM71,500. Again, said price includes a 3-year warranty and 3-year roadside assistance packages.

BMW C400X & C400GT
Last but certainly not the least comes the newest global offering from BMW Motorras, those being the new C400 mid-sized scooter twins. Available in both  sporty C400X and touring-focused C400GT guises, both offering sees BMW Motorrad break into an ever growing yet lucrative segment.

Both the C400X and C400GT harness a 350cc single-cylinder heart that thumps out 34hp and 35Nm, which are sent to the rear wheel via a twist-and-go CVT automatic drivetrain. Notable safety features present include BMW’s proprietary Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), which are standard.

Other notable features include a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen with integrated connectivity functions, keyless ignition, dual front disc brakes, LED lighting, and more. In short, both the C400X and C400GT now stand as benchmarks for premium mid-sized scooters.

Available in three colour choices respectively, the BMW C400 X commands a base price of RM44,500 whilst its C400 GT twin holds a slightly higher RM48,500 instead. Included in said prices too is both a 3-year warranty and 3-year roadside assistance packages.

By the way, we managed to have a quick test ride with both the C400 X and C400 GT shortly after the launch. Look our for our first impressions of both scooters here very soon.
