Ford Ranger Raptor gains new tech in Malaysia

Local Ford distributor Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) has given its 'flagship pickup truck', the Ranger Raptor, a host of updates for 2020. The new features are particularly numerous on the safety front, with a series of first-in-class tech befitting the most expensive truck in its segment.

These potentially life-saving features include autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with vehicle and pedestrian detection, forward collision warning and lane departure warning with lane keep assist. On top of these driver aids, the updated Ford Ranger Raptor also gains an additional USB charging port mounted on the rear-view mirror and LED projector headlamps for better visibility at night.

The Ranger Raptor's rally-esque recipe is otherwise unchanged, with power continuing to come from a two-litre twin-turbo diesel good for 210bhp and 500Nm of twist. A ten-speed automatic and Fox Racing Shox dampers in the mix too, in a package which will set you back a cool RM208,888 on-the-road without insurance - RM9,000 pricier than before.

Keen buyers can get in touch with SDAC during the ongoing Movement Control Order (MCO) using its recently launched "Digital Salesperson", which basically links customers to an authorised Ford salesperson via WhatsApp (+6019-204 1200) to answer queries on matters such as stock availability, in-showroom promotions, loan financing options, road tax and vehicle registration fees as well as insurance options.
