Ford has given the 2020 F-Series Super Duty trucks even greater capability with the Tremor Off-Road Package. This is achieved through hardware and tech to handle the rougher terrain, at the same time providing greater towing potential and payload than Ram Power Wagon. With this upgrade, Ford describes this Super Duty as the most capable ever.

The hardware improvements start with 35-inch diameter – largest tyre diameter available on a heavy-duty pickup – Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tyres attached to 18-inch matte-finished black wheels. This is then paired with 2-inch front end lift and shorter air dam resulting in 10.8 inches (27.4cm) of ground clearance. It’s water fording depth increases to 33-inches (83.8cm) which is a best-in-class capability, while approach- and departure angles is the best compared to any other Super Duty truck ever – 31.65 and 24.51 degrees respectively.

There are more: body motion control and heavy-duty towing performance are managed with progressive-rate springs, together with new rear stabiliser with lower spring rate. The dampers are custom with twin-tube 1.7-inch pistons with added oil volume to keep internal temperatures low. The Tremor package also includes a new Dana limited-slip front differential plus locking rear differential with electronic shift on-the-fly engagement.

Additionally, there’s an additional selectable rock-crawl selectable driver mode optimised to operate in 4x4. For the first time ever, Super Duty gets Trail Control, a feature that debuted for F-150 Raptor and Ranger. It functions in any mode like cruise control for off-road driving.

The Tremor package is available for a few F-Series truck variants once the 2020 Super Duty launches later this year.
