Fancy a Lexus UX over a BMW X1 or Merc GLA?

Lexus Malaysia is expanding its line up this year with yet another crossover, this time in the form of its BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA rival the UX. Set for an official launch soon, the firm have already opened up pre-orders for it as well.

The new crossover will be available locally in UX 200 form with three variants to choose from - UX 200 Urban, mid-spec UX 200 Luxury and a sporty-looking UX 200 F-Sport range-topper.

Aptly, equipment and features will vary according to variant, but there are plenty of highlights to look forward to. Chief amongst which is the Lexus Safety System + (LSS+) suite that adds a number of active driver aids – active cruise control, lane-tracing, cornering assist, as well as autonomous city braking.

Other highlights include a power back door with a kick-open function, wireless charging, as well as a panoramic-view mirror feature. We'll know more once the model officially launches, to which Lexus says will happen very soon.

On the powertrain front, all variant of the Malaysian-flavoured UX 200 will be powered by a direct-injected 2.0-litre 4cyl nat-asp mill that serves up 169bhp and 205Nm. Said powerplant gets paired with a 10-speed CVT automatic box and powers the front wheels exclusively.

Typically, the Lexus UX 200 will be a fully imported (CBU) offering, hence its premium pricing scheme. Things start from RM243,888 for the Urban, from RM283,888 for the Luxury, and from RM299,888 for the F-Sport. All prices includes a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty plan too.
