Those with expired driving licenses and road taxes can get them renewed by the end of the year

Just last month, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) announced that all expired road taxes and driving licenses must be renewed by the end of September as authorities will start monitoring and enforcing this particular law starting October 2021.

Dr. Wee Ka Siong, Malaysia's newly appointed Minister of Transport, announced earlier today that this moratorium period for expired documents has been extended to the end of 2021 (31 December to be exact). He also stated that no action will be taken for this offense, as long as the vehicle's insurance is valid.

Just like before, vehicle operators must display the insurance e-cover note for authorities to check in case the matter arises. Competent Driving Licences (CDL), Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM or road tax), Goods Driving Licence (GDL), and the Public Service Vehicle (PSV) license are also included in the list.

On a side note, Dr. Wee also stated that flood victims in Yan, Kedah can get their JPJ documents (grants, licenses, etc.) replaced for free if they were destroyed during the unfortunate incident. All they need to do is just file a police report and head to the nearest JPJ counter for verification purposes.
