Does the new Chevy Silverado scare you?

“We set out to make a statement with the 2020 Silverado HD and wanted to visually capture the power and capability of the truck,” explains Brian Izard. He’s the exterior design chief for this, the new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD.

Mission accomplished, then, if that mission is to… terrify you. “The result is a truck that looks like a piece of heavy machinery with modern, chiselled finishes and customer focused details,” Izard added.

We’re informed that because this new Silverado is a heavy duty truck, it shares only the roof with its light-duty Silverado stablemate. Every other bit of metal is new. And there’s a lot of metal. Though, it does get the same architectural changes as the Silverado 1500 which, apparently, means three more inches of legroom, and a more comfortable seating position.

There’ll be a pair of engines including a petrol one of unspecified size and cylinder count matched up to a six-speed gearbox, or a diesel V8 with 910lb ft of torque and a ten-speed auto.

You can tow many significant things because it’s a heavy duty truck. There’s a new ‘Bedstep’ that makes it easier to access the rear load area. And it has the mother of all front grilles.

Scared, much?
