Cupra builds limited-edition Ateca called Limited Edition

By topgear, 12 February 2020

Have a look at that thing in the images above. Looks like all of the other Cupra Atecas right? Wrong – this is Cupra’s new, faster version of its already fast version of Seat’s medium-sized SUV. Keep up people.

This one’s a limited-edition too, with only 100 being built for the UK market. You’d never forget that if you bought one either, because Cupra has inventively decided to call this the, um… Ateca Limited Edition. That’s a Friday afternoon job if we’ve ever seen one. Pub?

Anyway, let’s gloss over the name for now and concentrate on details. The Limited Edition retains the standard VW Group 2.0-litre turbo engine and doesn’t actually gain any power (296bhp and 400Nm of torque) unless you spec the ABT pack – we’ll come back to that later.

What the Limited Edition does get as standard is Rhodium Grey paint, 20-inch wheels, big Brembo brakes and copper-threaded carbon fibre elements such as that roof spoiler and the wing mirrors. For all that you’ll pay a base price of £42,120 (approx. RM226,100).

But wait. If you fancy parting with even more of your cash, Cupra is offering 20 of the special edition Limited Editions with an Akrapovic exhaust system that saves 7kg in weight and apparently brings ‘a unique, dynamic sound’. That’ll cost you £45,160 (approx. RM242,418) and comes with an exclusive Graphene Grey paintjob.

The real interest comes from this ABT pack, though. Tick the box and the German tuner will extract an extra 49bhp and 41Nm of torque, meaning a 0-100kph time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 254kph.

Inside you’ll get special blue seats and more of that copper carbon fibre. So, what say you, people? Fancy splashing over £45,000 (approx. RM241,559) on a small performance SUV?
