So yes, literally just two hours after we wrote this, Lexus confirms that the LC Convertible will go into production. Good then, because now we have to explain it again…

Folks there at the Goodwood Festival of Speed will get to see it in the metal first. Not a mere coincidence me thinks, because this is almost a carbon copy of the coupe arrangement – reveal at the Detroit show, and make another big public appearance at Goodwood. Okay, move on.

Lexus says that the Convertible will share the Coupe’s athletic proportions but project its own distinct identity. This probably suggests the Lexus PR department don’t quite know what to say about the car which we don’t already know about.

The ‘concept’ at Goodwood wears camo, but the real downer is that all pictures so far are taken from a low angle. And this makes it difficult to make a better guess at what type of roof the LC Convertible will have. Well played, Lexus.

The folks at the festival will probably get a peek however, and they will also get to hear the car as it goes up the hill at Goodwood, driven by Nick Cassidy who drives for Lexus Team KeePer TOM’s in SuperGT. It’ll be fun for Nick, but it’ll be work too because from now on engineers will be expecting feedback which will go to fine-tuning the car.
