Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has been urged to close down all special bays reserved for e-hailing drivers to wait for and pick up passengers at all airports nationwide.

Big Blue Taxi Facilities Sdn Bhd director Datuk Shamsubahrin Ismail said although the Road Transport Department (RTD) had issued a ban on the matter, e-hailing drivers were still seen waiting for passengers in the bays.

On Jan 2, the RTD had issued a statement prohibiting e-hailing drivers from waiting for passengers at any location, including at the airport.

"But until now, the special bays still exist and e-hailing drivers are still waiting at the airport to look for passengers…. therefore we urge MAHB to immediately close these e-hailing bays to comply with the ban," he said during a press conference here today.

Shamsubahrin said he would be lodging complaints with the Transport Ministry on a weekly basis until the matter was resolved.
