City Energy launch EV charging service
Singapore’s sole piped town gas provider, City Energy, today announces the official launch of Go by City Energy (Go), its electric vehicle (EV) charging service under its new subsidiary, City Energy Go Pte. Ltd.
Go will be the first EV charging service provider to offer a seamless operational service across Singapore and Malaysia with just one mobile application (app).
City Energy first announced plans to offer EV charging solution as a service when it made public its rebranding from City Gas on 1 December 2021. The 160-year-old heritage company continues its pivot to provide new energy solutions for smarter and greener living, beyond its core piped gas services to more than 870,000 homes and businesses in Singapore.
Under the new branding, Go, the EV service provider finances, operates and maintains a network of EV charging stations; supported by its mobile app, and strategic partnership with EV Connection Sdn. Bhd. (EV Connection) to extend charging connectivity into Malaysia.
In its official launch held at Parc Botannia today, Go signed an agreement with EV Connection to extend connectivity into Malaysia. Invited media witnessed a Malaysia-based user charging his electric vehicle via the Go mobile app, demonstrating the ease of EV charging in Malaysia when one is on the Go app.
City Energy Chief Executive Officer, Perry Ong, said: “As City Energy pivots to be a green energy solutions provider for smarter and greener living, beyond its core piped gas services to more than 870,000 homes and businesses in Singapore, the launch of Go by City Energy enables us to continue our mission of providing greener energy for our city, leveraging our status as a trusted brand to power earth-friendly rides.
“Go will be the first service in Singapore that extends EV charging capabilities into Malaysia, providing an added convenience for drivers on both sides of the Causeway as well as up and down the North-South Highway. We are confident that both consumers and real estate developers will take advantage of the total value we offer for greener and smarter living,” added Ong.
Furthermore, Lee Sze Hao, CEO, Sing Holdings Limited, “We are proud to partner City Energy for their first installation of Go charge points in our residential development Parc Botannia at Fernvale, and our upcoming executive condominium North Gaia in Yishun. Both properties are inspired and surrounded by nature, making them the ideal locations for conscious green living with the comfort of timeless modern design.” Lee continued.
Yen Chong, Deputy General Manager, Qingjian Realty, “We believe in creating well-designed, innovative homes that complement the needs of homeowners who want to live greener and smarter.
