Citroen crosses over with new C3 Aircross

The compact crossover segment in Malaysia is getting a little crowded as a new player has arrived in the form of the Citroen C3 Aircross.

In essence, the new B-segment French crossover is a reskinned version of the Peugeot 2008. It even packs the same 1.2-litre PureTech engine which develops 110bhp and 205Nm of forced-inducted torque. The six-speed Aisin gearbox is another thing we’ve seen in the PSA catalogue before.

Stats like 0-100kph in 10.4 seconds and 200kph V-Max may not sound very exciting but neither are the main highlight. The PureTech mill has always been marketed for its efficiency, and the C3 Aircross is claimed to consume just 5.3 litres of petrol per 100km on the NEDC cycle.

From its striking orange accents to bulbous curves, Citroen has certainly gone to town to give the C3 Aircross a character of its own. But there’s a versatile car beneath the adventurous styling, including a 410-litre two-step boot, which can be expanded to 520 litres with the tilt-and-slide rear seats folded away

The C3 Aircross’s list of creature comforts is pretty decent too, with automatic climate control, cruise control and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment that’s compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto all part of the package.

All of these features are bundled into a single spec priced at RM115,888 on-the-road without insurance.

And since it’s Citroen’s 100th anniversary this year, local distributor Naza Euro Motors is offering three years of free service to the first 100 buyers.
