Brace yourselves, the Toyota GR Corolla is coming
The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla will debut on 1 April 2022
We have some big news and we sure hope that this is not an April Fool's joke (because if it is, then it's going to be one heck of a prank). It seems that Toyota is set to launch the all-new 2023 Toyota GR Corolla on 1 April 2022 at 10.30 am JST.
Below are a couple of teaser images released by Toyota showing some close-ups of this 'all-new GR Sports Car". As all of you can see, one shows the GR branding on its wider-than-normal front fender with quite a prominent air vent sticking out from the side.
The other one is the 'GR-Four' logo largely placed on the side rocker panel. This is actually the permanent four-wheel-drive system found in the Toyota GR Yaris model. If our assumptions are correct, the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla will share other similar traits to the GR Yaris.
These will most likely include the Yaris' six-speed manual transmission as well as the 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine which on the Yaris produces 268hp. Some experts have indicated that the power output will most likely be bumped up on the GR Corolla to compensate for its slightly heavier weight.
Based on the current Toyota Corolla hatchback (already on sale in the US), the GR Corolla is also rumoured to carry some heavy modifications and upgrades for its overall chassis, including its suspension, braking, and other related sections of this very exciting model. A 300hp Corolla? Yes, please.
