BMW Malaysia has launched the fifth edition of BMW Safety 360° Programme, this time partnering with Childline Foundation to advocate the proper use of child car seats. Dubbed as ‘From Day One’, a key support came from Chicco Malaysia which provided a Chicco KeyFit 30 infant seat for six babies born on Father’s Day at Hospital Putrajaya.

Parents of the babies were also briefed by Childline Foundation about best child safety practises such as how to choose a child car seat, proper methods of installation, and the lifespan of a child car seat.

Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “As we near the enforcement of mandatory use of child car seats in 2020, we believe it is important to continue advocating the importance of child car seats, especially for newborns. The focus of ‘From Day One’ is to ensure parents know how to keep their children safe from the moment they leave the hospital. We want to make the use of child car seats instinctive; a basic practice when it comes to parenthood.

The ‘From Day One’ campaign is already looking at the next phase, when BMW Malaysia and the partnership with Childline Foundation will work with Safe ‘n Sound, distributor of child car seats and baby gear. The programme will reach out to five government hospitals across the Klang Valley, with BMW and Safe ‘n Sound subsidising 150 snskidz Ace infant carrier car seats at RM100 each. This certified item can be used when the child is a baby to 13 years old and retails at RM199.

Additionally, Child passenger safety talks and consultations will also be offered to parents who attend antenatal classes at these hospitals.
