Sadly, this AC Schnitzer-tuned BMW M850i is not about to enter service with the German police. It’s a show car, built for an Association of German Automobile Tuners and Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure campaign to show “that tuning from Germany can make the hearts of car fans beat faster and still be safe”.

So what’s AC Schnitzer done to BMW’s flagship coupe? For starters, the twin-turbocharged V8 has been turned up from 530 to an M8-bothering 620bhp and paired with a carbon-tipped sports exhaust.

Meanwhile the suspension has been dropped by around 30mm at the front and 25mm at the rear, and the M850i equipped with new 21-inch alloys wrapped in sticky Hankook tyres.

The car is wrapped in a flashier take on Germany’s police livery. A carbon diffuser and assortment of skirts and spoilers claim to improve the aero balance, but no doubt all their hard work is offset by the police-issue Hella lightbar. Inside it’s pretty standard bar some additional controls for the lights and siren.

The show car is on display at BMW Welt in Munich, and will tour the various exhibitions and events in 2021. Reckon the German rozzers ought to get AC Schnitzer to build them a few of these to keep?
