After launching a sleuth of premium crossover SUVs not long ago, the mighty four-ring marque sees its local line up revamped once again. This time, it’s the refreshed A3 Sedan and new generation A5 Sportback that makes landfall locally.

Naturally, the A3 Sedan is Audi direct rival against the recently launched Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine. The compact sedan has received a mild nip-tuck inside and out for 2019.

Powering this pint-sized four-door is a 1.4-litre TFSI turbo four-cylinder petrol heart that’s good for 150hp and 250Nm. Managing both outputs is a 7-speed S-tronic DCT automatic box, which allows 0-100kph in 8.2 seconds and 224kph V-Max.

Inside, the A3 Sedan is brimmed with a fully digital 12.3-inch interactive instrument display, a larger new 7-inch infotainment display screen, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, lots of leather, as well as keyless entry and ignition.

As for the exterior, the Malaysian-spec A3 Sedan gets a set of 18-inch alloy wheels to match the restyled front grille and LED headlights. The LED taillight gets new graphics too and yes, this one has the novel ‘dynamic turn signal’ feature too.

All in, the refreshed Audi A3 Sedan commands RM238,750 OTR sans insurance. Said figure sees this Audi cost just a little move over the rivalling Mercedes A200 Limousine, which commands RM229,888.

Moving up to the A5 Sportback, this new second generation version makes its local debut in a sole 2.0 TFSI quattro trimline. What that means it that this sleek four-door fastback has both a peppy powertrain matched with Audi’s signature AWD suite.

Powering all four wheels, the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo heart the A5 Sportback packs delivers 252hp and 370Nm. Managing both to all four wheels is Audi’s 7-speed S-tronic DCT again, which grants 0-100kph in 6 second and 250kph claimed V-max.

The sleek four-door coupe is brimmed with full-LED headlights featuring two-pronged DRLs, as well as a set of tasty 19-inch multi-spoke alloys. Inside, the cabin mirrors  that of the B9-gen A4 sedan as it includes a full-width air vent design too.

Notable features include the interactive digital 12.3-inch Audi instrument display, Audi’s MMI navigation plus infotainment system fronted by an 8.3-inch screen and touch rotary controller, triple-zone climate control, powered sport seats, adaptive dampers, premium 10-speaker hi-fi, as well as a powered tailgate.

All in, the new Audi A5 Sportback now sits as the only four-door coupe (or fastback) of this size officially on sale in Malaysia, and it commands RM339,900 OTR excluding insurance. By the way, all prices stated include a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty plan from Audi as well.
