Next weekend will see 35 powerful GT cars lined up at the Sepang circuit for the Asia GT Festival. By the numbers of race cars involved on the grid, it will be the largest single series GT category in Southeast Asia to date and will feature all the big boys in racing including Mercedes-AMG, Audi, Ferrari, Bentley, McLaren, Porsche, BMW, and others. And of course there will be Malaysians drivers, the most famous being Jazeman Jaafar and Dominic Ang.

The race will very likely feature close racing – normal for GT category – but you’ll probably be just as intrigued by something on track which is not jostling for grid positions. The organisers have confirmed that a showcase hot-lap will be performed by the Nio EP9. Does that ring a bell? Of course it does because the Nio holds the EV lap record at Nurburgring.

The Asia GT Festival will be held from 15 to 17 March, and will also comprise of the Saga Cup, a favourite local grassroot racing series. The flag off ceremony for this race will be done by Prime Minister Tun Mahathir himself.

The weekend will not just be about racing, however, because the public can look forward to the Celebrity Bazaar. It will have pop-up stores and marketplace by local celebrities such as Joe Flizzow, Elly Raja Lawak, Linora Low, KTown Clan, and 47 others.

“The Asia GT Festival offers unique lifestyle experiences for visitors of all ages to enjoy such as the Celebrity Bazaar,” said Matahari Lee, Executive Director of Country Heights Holdings Berhad, who is the co-organiser of this event. “The Celebrity Bazaar aims to provide a platform for local creators and artists to showcase their masterpieces for visitors to indulge.”

“We are excited to co-organise this one-stop marketplace where visitors can find exclusive items from our local artists and possibly for them to meet their idols too,” said Sara Nattaya, Founder and President of Mbits Digital Sdn Bhd

The Celebrity Bazaar is among a series of sought-after offerings at this Asia GT Festival. For music fans, there will be a mini concert by Malaysian renowned artist Joe Flizzow and seven members of the 16 BARIS band at 6:30pm on 17 March 2019. Visitors planning to head over to Sepang International Circuit during race weekend can also expect fun family-friendly activities such as rock climbing, flying fox, food truck culinary experiences, and more.
