America is getting a Hyundai N-badged sports saloon
Hyundai doesn’t sell the wonderful i30N hot hatch in the US. Instead, it offers the same powertrain and internals in the funky-looking three-door Veloster N.
A more practical offering would probably make sense for Albert Biermann’s division, then. Aha – step forward the camouflaged Elantra N – Hyundai’s new performance offering for the US market.
Now, we don’t know much about the Elantra N as of yet, but these early shots hint that it could be quite the looker. The standard Elantra is already quite wild, and the N seems to be getting a new front splitter, big wheels and a pronounced rear spoiler. Check out those chunky exhaust tips too. Nice.
We’d imagine the powertrain will be the same as the one in the Veloster N and i30N, because why change something that works so well? That means a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed DCT. The i30N comes in 247bhp and 276bhp flavours, and the latter would make a rather nice front-wheel drive sports saloon we reckon.
