Following the preview in January, Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd today officially launched the all-new 2023 Kia Sorento SUV at the brand's outlet in Glenmarie, Shah Alam.

Redesigned from the ground-up, the front of the Sorento evolves with a new interpretation of Kia’s hallmark ‘tiger nose’ grille, displaying a wider shape which wraps around the integrated headlamps on each side. 

The headlamps feature a new ‘tiger eyeline’ LED daytime running light, adding an extra focus to the design by depicting the intense impression of the lines around the tiger’s eyes.

The proportions of the Sorento are subtly adapted to make it appear longer, with shorter front and rear overhangs and a longer wheelbase. 

Inside, the material quality of the fourth generation Sorento is enhanced with sophisticated next-generation design with blending metallic trims, leather upholstery and embossed wood-effect surfaces. 

The 12.3-inch digital driver instrument cluster is paired with a 10.25-inch infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard.

A wireless smartphone charger sits at the base of the centre console while the BOSE surround-sound system provides in immersive in-car audio experience. The infotainment systems are compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto to provide seamless smartphone integration.

In terms of powertrain and seat configuration, the All-New Kia Sorento comes in 2 types of seat layouts. While the base 7-seater configuration (2-3-2) variant comes equipped with the 2.5L ‘Smartstream’ 2WD petrol engine, the 6-seater configuration (2-2-2) comes in two powertrain choices - the 2.5L ‘Smartstream’ AWD petrol engine and 2.2L ‘Smartstream’ AWD diesel engine.

Both ‘Smartstream’ gasoline engine variants are paired with a 6-Speed Automatic transmission and produce up to 177 horsepower and 232 Nm of torque. 

As for the  ‘Smartstream’ 2.2D diesel engine variant is paired with Kia’s new 8-speed wet double-clutch transmission (8DCT), which is designed to offer smooth shifting and enhance fuel efficiency and produces 199 horsepower and 440 Nm torque.

In terms of safety, the all-new Sorento is equipped with standard safety features and advanced safety features. The standard safety features of the Sorento includes 6 SRS airbags (Front Driver & Passenger, Side and Curtain), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Multi-Collision Brake Control (MCB), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), ISOFIX Child Restraint Anchor Points and Top Tethers comes as standard for all three variants.

The all-new Sorento comes equipped with High Beam Assist (HBA), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW),  Blind-spot Collision Avoidance (BCA), Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM) which is only available for the 2.5L ‘Smartstream’ High and 2.2D ‘Smartstream’ High , Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) , Drive Attention Warning (DAW), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) with Junction Turning (a technology with pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle detection, that also helps detects oncoming traffic when making a turn at a junction), Lane Following Assist (LFA) and Smart Cruise Control (with Stop & Go).

That being said, the all-New Kia Sorento is locally assembled at the Inokom Assembly plant located in Kulim, Kedah, and comes with a comes with a 5-Years Manufacturer Warranty with a coverage period of up to five years and a mileage limit of 100,000km, whichever comes first.
