Boon Siew Honda, the authorised distributor of Honda motorcycles in Malaysia launched the all-new Honda Vario 160 scooter yesterday, which is completely new from the ground-up.
Going against models like the Yamaha NVX 150, the all-new Honda Vario 160 is powered by a new 4-valve, 157 cc engine with Honda's enhanced Smart Power Plus technology (eSP+) producing 15.1 hp at 8,500 rpm and 13.8 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
The new Vario 160 is also underpinned by a newly implanted enhanced Smart Architecture Frame (eSAF) which is lighter and more durable than the outgoing version's frame.
This new frame also promises to deliver increased agility and improved handling. Also part of the package is the new Front Single Channel ABS and a rear Disc Brake.
Another key feature is the Honda Smart Key System which is equipped with an alarm and answer back system that provides offers peace of mind for the rider when parking. The bike is also equipped with Antilock-Braking System (ABS) and a rear position brake for increased stability during sudden braking.
Fitted with wider tubeless tire sizes that come in 100/80-14 in front and 120/70-14 at the rear, the Vario 160 also gets new cast wheel designs.
Giving the all-new Honda Vario 160 a fresh new appearance is the full LED lighting system that comes with LED Daytime Running Lights as well.
The taillight and blinkers are also LED, giving the bike a modern and sporty touch.
The Vario 160 is also equipped with a full digital panel meter which displays necessary information including Smart Key indicators, digital hours, fuel consumption, as well as the ABS indicator.
Other convenience features that are offered as standard with the Honda Vario 160 include a USB Type A charger, where a socket is available for charging without the need to use an additional adapter.
Riders will also be able to bring most of their belongings as the Vario 160 comes with an 18-liter utility storage.
That being said, the all-new Honda Vario 160 is available in four colour options namely Vivacity Red, Pear Nightfall Blue, Sword Silver Metallic, and a Matte Charcoal Grey Metallic which will be available from February 2023.
In case you're wondering how much the all-new Honda Vario 160 asks for, the model is priced at RM9,998 for the Red, Blue, and Metallic, while the Charcoal Grey colour unit is priced at RM10,298.
