[AD] Automechanika Shanghai opens its physical and virtual doors today

By topgear, 02 December 2020

The latest edition of Automechanika Shanghai, one of the largest automotive trade shows in the world, opens its doors to visitors today. In spite of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, organisers from Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd have worked closely with the local authorities to ensure appropriate safety parameters are upheld as the show hosts 3,845 exhibitors across 280,000sqm of the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in Shanghai, China.

This year's exhibit has been specially designed to reflect the transformations of a shortening supply chain and associated opportunities for cross-sector collaboration in the automotive industry. For example, the entire lower level houses the Parts & Components, Tomorrow's Service & Mobility and Electronics & Connectivity sections to emphasise the growing influence of digitalisation in the market. The Diagnostics & Repair, Body & Paint, Accessories, Customising and Tyres & Wheels sections on the upper floor utilise the synergy from OEMs, dealers and workshops. Within these sectors, the Auto Manufacturing, Services & Suppy Chain and Remanufacturing zones highlight the latest auto processes, evolution of the service sector and sustainability within the market respectively.

This year's selection of exhibitors come from 29 countries, with big industry names from Germany, Italy and Taiwan all present to display their latest innovations. Among the reputable brands represented at Automechanika Shanghai 2020 are Brembo, Liqui Moly, Mahle, SAIC Motor, Sonax, TEIN and Toyota Tsusho. Known names in the commercial vehicle sector such as Autel, Wanli and Würth are also part of the line-up as the importance of commercial vehicle grows with the global logistics industry.

The most innovative aspect of Automechanika Shanghai 2020 continues to be the hybrid nature of the event, with visitors also welcomed virtually through the show's digital platform: AMS Live. The platform has pre-arranged over 400 online meetings between overseas buyers and exhibitors. It is also part of the first ever Hybrid & Trade Promotion zone which allows overseas exhibitors to connect with onsite visitors through real-time online interactions.

As always, Automechanika Shanghai continues to be an arena for global industry experts to share their knowledge, explore new opportunities and discover potential partners. 62 onsite and hybrid events will be conducted throughout the course of the show, from now until 5 December 2020, many of which will be broadcast on AMS Live.
