A turbocharged 2019 Mazda CX-5 is coming to Malaysia

Official Mazda distributor in Malaysia, Bermaz Motor, has confirmed that the upcoming 2019 Mazda CX-5 will gain a host of new features, including a new variant packing a 2.5-litre turbo and AWD.

In essence, this means that you can soon purchase a Mazda CX-5 with the Mazda CX-9's powertrain. In Malaysia, the latter's turbocharged 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G engine develops 228bhp and 420Nm. Like the CX-9, and most Mazda models for that matter, the new range-topping CX-5 should also pack a six-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic.

In other markets, Mazda also offers its force-inducted 2.5-litre engine in the Mazda6. This isn't the same engine as the revolutionary Skyactiv-X mill that made debuted in the new Mazda3 (also in other markets).

If you've had your eyes on the Mazda CX-5, try to drop by Sunway Pyramid where Bermaz Motor is currently having a roadshow from today till 9 September 2019. The new Mazda CX-5 SkyActiv-G 2.5L Turbo will take the stage. And even if you aren't looking to spend top dollar on the top-spec model, it'll still give you a hint of what's to come in the 2019 model.
