A total of 50 individuals working for Proton have tested positive for Covid-19. Following an official statement about an R&D employee contracting the virus last week, the national carmaker has confirmed that an additional 49 employees in its Shah Alam engineering division have returned positive test results as well. At present, all non-essential staff based in the same facility have been instructed to work from home as a precaution.

Proton insists that it has been following strict guidelines and SOPs since the start of the pandemic and will continue to do so to uphold the health and safety of its personnel as well as its customers. Its Centre of Service Excellence and showroom in Shah Alam, for one, is disinfected on an hourly basis and puts every individual walking through its doors, be it employee or customer, through rigorous screening procedures. The company has also been working closely with the authorities to ensure that all of its precautionary measures are up to standards.
