2022 Proton Persona is a bit more 'premium' looking now - from RM45,800

The 2022 Proton Persona comes with quite a decent upgrade, including the new Space Grey colourway

Together with the launch of the 2022 Proton Iriz, Proton also took the opportunity to unveil another updated model, the 2022 Proton Persona. While the Iriz takes on a more sporty facade (particularly the new Active variant), the Persona went the other way by offering more 'premium-ness' into its overall package that comes with updated exterior, interior, and equipment.

Just like the Iriz, the 2022 Proton Persona is also fitted with a redesigned front bumper to further highlight the brand's signature Infinite Weave and Ethereal Bow features. A lot more chrome can be found on its front end to further highlight the Proton's logo, a simple yet elegant touch to further add on to its more grown-up look.

The 2022 Proton Persona also comes with the new LED headlamps that feature auto on/off and 'follow me home' functions. Also like the Iriz Active, this feature is only available for the Persona's range-topping variant, the 1.6 Premium CVT. The Executive and Standard models are fitted with halogen lights, with the exception of the additional LED daytime running lights for the Executive (also available for the Premium model).

Other updates include:

  • New 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels (only for Premium & Executive)
  • Black roof (only for Premium)
  • New finishing for rear combination lamps
  • New Space Grey colour option (only for Premium)

Step inside the cabin and you'll quickly notice the new eight-inch floating touchscreen and just like the 2022 Proton Iriz, the new Persona also comes with new voice command functions, new controls for air-conditioning with digital display, repositioned air vents, and the new centre console.

There's also the new brown leatherette seats and door trims (same shade as the one seen during the Proton X70 debut). Luxury can also be found in terms of rear boot space where the Persona is able to offer 510 litres which can be further expanded when the rear seats are folded.

Rated with a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating, the 2022 Proton Persona comes with (also available in the new 2022 Proton Iriz):

  • Reinforced body structure
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Traction Control System (TCS)
  • Hill Hold Assist (HHA)

The 2022 Proton Persona is priced from RM45,800 to RM55,800 (on-the road prices excluding insurance). It's an extra RM2,000 for those living in West Malaysia, but if you consider the Sales Tax Exemption that'll last until the end of 2021, the price tags are cut down by RM400-RM900.
